Kelly Catale

Elite Endurance Mountain Bike & Gravel Racer. Mental health advocate. Non-profit founder and Director. Women’s cycling advocate. Engineer. Writer.

Kelly has been racing bikes competitively for over ten years. She started competing as a road cyclist in college and was ranked 9th in the nation for collegiate cycling. After college, she transitioned to off-road disciplines and discovered all of the amazing singletrack New England has to offer.

2024 is Kelly’s 7th year as an elite endurance mountain bike racer. She is a 3-time US National Team member for XCM (marathon mountain biking), is the current Singlespeed MTB National Champion, and has multiple top-5 finishes at US MTB National Championships. She is passionate about off-road racing, dedicated to training hard, and always searching for opportunities to improve her technical skills.

Kelly is the Founder, President, and Executive Director of Team KellCat Development Inc (“KellCat Devo”), Team KellCat’s All-Girls Junior Development MTB team, and she serves as the team’s primary mentor.

In addition to working and training, Kelly cares deeply about mental health advocacy. As someone who has battled mental health issues for many years, Kelly understands how heavily our society stigmatizes mental health and causes those who suffer to feel isolated, ashamed, and alone. She has taken on a personal mission to start the conversation about mental health, end the stigma, and make space in our society for mental health awareness and acceptance.

Kelly also believes strongly in giving back to the cycling community, particularly women’s cycling. She earned her PMBIA Level 1 MTB Skills Instructor certification, and subsequently conducted several group MTB skills clinics (most of which were women-specific). Additionally, she is an active member of the New England Mountain Bike Association (NEMBA).

Kelly holds a degree in Biomedical Engineering. Previous co-workers cleverly nicknamed her the “Bicycling Batwoman” (engineer by day; pro cyclist by night). She fully embraces the challenge associated with committing to multiple jobs and endeavors.
